Baby Noah Arrives!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to update again, since Noah decided to arrive a little bit early (12 days to be exact). He was born on May 29, 2009 at about 2:30 p.m. He was 5 lbs, 13 ounces, and 19 inches long. His full name is Noah Michael Irwin.

Jay and I are so blessed to have this new edition to our family. We love little Noah more and more each day and consider him a gift from God. We pray to raise him up in the ways of the Lord and that God will use him for his purpose.

Practically, it has been of course difficult to adjust to being first time parents. But we're thankful because I have the whole summer off to take care of Noah and Jay has had the last two weeks off. Therefore, we have been able to work together to get the breastfeeding and sleeping schedule down (sleeping for Noah and for us). My mom and dad have been great in helping and we are so excited that Grandma Pamela is coming this Friday (June 12th) to meet her grandson and help out also.

Jay is still working at the Geek Squad and I am looking for a full time teaching position for the fall. Jay is also looking to go back to school for Web Development some time soon. Well, that's all for now, but I will be updating this as much as possible with new pictures. God bless,

Carrie (and Jay)

Irwin family update!

Hello everyone! It's been such a long time since Jay and I have been able to update this site. Between moving, teaching, transitioning to the winter cold weather again, and starting to attend a new church, there has been a lot to get used to.

Anyways, God has been faithful through the whole time. We found a two bedroom apartment that we really like and that most importantly, has room for the baby's room-which we've almost finished (and there are now new pictures of). We are excited about little Noah, who will be coming in about 2-3 weeks from now! Mom is feeling tired and anxious at the same time. I am anxious to see what he looks like and also nervous about the delivery. His official due date is June 10, but we'll see when God is planning on bringing him into the world. Thanks to my mom, I had a wonderful baby shower a couple of weeks ago, and we received a lot of wonderful things. A lot of people came and we had a great time. Now, just getting the baby's room organized!

Jay and I have enjoyed being here with my family (and so hasn't my family), but are also missing all of his family in California! Jay is currently still working at Best Buy and is one of their favorite emplyees. He recently received a plaque for MVP of the month and is now working as a full-time employee, meaning that both him and myself will be receiving insurance soon. I am finishing my permanent sub position at Geneva High School as a Spanish teacher and am looking for a teaching position for the 2009-10 school year. We are planning on moving in closer by Chicago and the new church we've found in January or February, and are looking forward to eventually purchasing a home in the same area.

Jay is also planning on taking classes for web development in the next year as that is the area of work he'd like to get into and Carrie will eventually go for her Master's at some point.

We are thankful for the new church that we have found and that they are supportive of our desire to start a ministry with the Latin American community. Although we are here now, we both have the desire to do more mission work in Latin America someday, and believe God will provide for us to do so. Well, that's it for now-enjoy the new pictures and I'll update soon, probably with a new edition to the family!

Jay and Carrie's History

Jay and I met in Michigan in 2004 at a conference with our church. From the minute we met, we knew that God had brought us together, as we had the same future goals and the same desire to serve the Lord. We were married in January of 2005, and started our new life together in Downey, California, where we could be close to Jay's family for the first few years of our marriage. Our lives changed when we went to Ecuador in 2007 and then after being there, stayed in California from May to October of 2008, eventually moving to Chicago to be close to my family. Although our marriage has been through a lot of challenges and changes, God has been there to uphold us and encourage us at every turn. We are thankful now to be residing in Chicago with my family, and not only this, that I am pregnant with our first baby! We are so excited, and can't wait for the baby to be born, grow up and be all that God wants him or her to be. We'll be posting information as more happens with the pregnancy, so please all-happy reading! We also want to use this to keep our precious families informed of what's going on in our lives. We think this will be a good tool. Well, that's all for now.
